It would have been just too much to make more than one title in one world cup. To be the defensive world champion, we achieved with a lot of luck. Only a few minutes after we reached it, Chile scored - even though it was irregular.
It must have been the aim of Switzerland to defend itself as good as possible. However, didn't we learn anything from past tournaments? It does not help to get no goal! You really need to MAKE goals in order to be successfull. However, when you have a look at the Swiss players in front of the adversarys goal, it is probably our only chance. Is this really all Switzerland has to offer? Only Barnetta had some fantasy and the energy, to get the game going. Nkufo was once and again in the right place, but when he touched the ball, EVERYTHING went wrong.
So I hope that we learn something and move to a more offensive tactic. Otherwise, it's our own fault, if we leave the game after the group games, because of an error of a referee. What do you expect, when you rely that much on the offsite whistle. Once in each game, there will be an error and usually, that makes the difference, not to the advantage of Switzerland. I was already very happy, that the referee did not mark a penalty during the game against Spain. With soooooo many people in the penalty area, it was almost impossible to avoid. Finally we won against Spain with what is probably one of the ugliest goals in the history of the world cup ;=)
To sum up, we got what we deserved! Let's enjoy the rest of the world cup and look forward. Already in two years we have a chance to make it better in the European cup, hopefully!
