Former coach Köbi Kuhn has laid out the fundament for a successful future of the Swiss national football team. His famous sucessor, Ottmar Hitzfeld has without doubt improved the team furthermore, so that we can really expect the team to show a few good games during the world cup.
The Swiss team has the necessary abilities to end as second in group H, before Honduras and Chile. However, to reach more than that is VERY difficult! The adversaries are all candidates for the title.
To win the group, Switzerland has to beat Spain, which is one of the hottest teams in the turnament. But it does not matter too much. If Switzerland reaches the round of 16, they will play against Brazil (this years world champion ;=) or Portugal, number 3 in the FIFA ranking.
So I guess, Switzerland will show very good games, but they will loose against Brazil in the round of 16 with 0:2.

Who is Switzerland? Can someone tell them the rules of the game before the world cup starts?

Common my friend. Switzerland has always participated in the last European and world cups. We did not get too far, but we were always there. It's true, at the European cup in Switzerland and Austria we were not very well prepared, but only because we didn't have to do the qualification. That's different this year. Don't worry, we will be at least on the second place in group H. Then it will be difficult, but that's already a success for us!

Bad news for the Swiss team. Streller will not be able to play and the Tagesanzeiger writes today, that the Swiss team is exhausted, because they train in the mountains. On the contrary, Chile wins all the preparation matches against Northern Ireland and Israel. Probably we willnot even be able to reach the second place, in order to loose against Brazil. However, I think we should be optimistic anyway. Let's cross the fingers and shout out loud: "HOPP SCHWIIIIZ"!

I trust Ottmar Hitzfeld, that he will get the boys ready until the 16th June, when they have the game against Spain. And remember: Somtimes a young team is even better than an old an tired one. The motivation of you players is often an important factor in such a tournament. Therefore I'm quite sure that we survive the first round!

Switzerland delivered a big suprise, but like this, we are able to win against any team! We don't fear neither Brazil nor Portugal. Thanks Ottmar! We will go far this year!!!!!

Stay calm Swissy! We won with the ugliest goal of the world cup! We will be probably called "the wall", because we only defended. And this in our own goal area. Very dangerous. Once a referee will decide on a penalty for sure, if we continue like this. We had a lot of luck, so I would not be too enthusiastic.
